Dordt High School All-Star Basketball Games Held Saturday

Dordt_Defenders logoSioux Center Iowa — Dordt College hosted the annual Gold Club High School Basketball All Star Games Saturday. The girls contest went to the White team 71-56 over the black team. Sammy Blum from Rock Valley and Makenna Carver from Cherokee shared MVP honors. Blum led the White team with a game high 21 points. Jessica Meyer from West Lyon had a double double with 12 points and a dozen boards. Jose Blankespoor from Unity  hit for 12 point as well. Makenna Carver led the Black team with 15 points. The Girls 3-point contest winner was Ann Hedlund from Akron Westfield.

 

The boys game was a shoot out won by the White team 106-102. Four players hit double figures led by Jay Small of Hinton with 28, Bryce Peter of Okoboji hit for 16. Tate Arends of MOC Floyd Valley had 12 while Issac Heyer of West Lyon had 11 and Colin Schroeder of Remsen St Mary’s pumped in 10 points. The Black team had four players in double figures as well led by Trent Hillbrands of LeMars with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Tyson Kooima of Western had 16, Josh Werge of Storm Lake 15 and Ben Gesink of Western added 12. Hillbrands and Small shared MVP honors in the boys game. The 3-point shooting contest went to Jacob Wesselmann of Remsen St Mary’s.

Team rosters were made up of players from the Siouxland, Lakes and War Eagle conferences.
