Dordt will host Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday, September 28 with kickoff at 1:00.
Dakota Wesleyan is 1-3 this season and 0-2 in the GPAC with losses to Briar Cliff and Northwestern so far in league play. Wesleyan’s win was a 44-0 decision over Presentation in the second week of the season. The Tigers narrowly missed starting the year 2-0 by dropping a 33-30 decision to Dakota State on August 29.
Dakota Wesleyan is running for 177 yards per game and passing for 135. Teams are gaining 146 yards on the ground against the Tigers and pass for 208 per outing against them.
Dordt is 2-2 this season with a 34-21 loss to Keiser (Florida) to open the season and a 30-9 win over Waldorf the following week. Two weeks ago Dordt faced defending NAIA National Champion Morningside and lost a 56-14 decision to the Mustangs before going on the road to Jamestown last week for a 41-16 win.
The Defenders have run for 287 yards per game and passed for 113. Teams have gained 216 yards on the ground per game against Dordt and have passed for 178.
Dordt’s Levi Schoonhoven ran for a school record 298 yards on Saturday against Jamestown, breaking the previous record by 50 yards. Schoonhoven’s total is the highest in the GPAC since the 2014 season and also put him over 2,000 career yards. For his play Schoonhoven was named the GPAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week.
The Defenders will enjoy a bye date on the schedule next week before hosting Northwestern on Saturday, October 12 in a 1:00 kickoff.
Dakota Wesleyan will host Doane next week in GPAC play.
