Dordt Hosts NFL Scouts

For the first time in program history the Dordt Defender football team hosted scouts representing two NFL teams on Monday night, January 27.

Representatives for the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears were in attendance as 12 athletes from six Midwest schools worked out.  Two of the athletes were Noah Clayberg (Junior; Pella, Iowa) and Levi Jungling (Junior; Pella, Iowa) who will be playing their final seasons for the Defenders in 2020.

The evening consisted of 45 minutes measuring aptitude in a classroom followed by physical measurements and timed 40 yard dashes.

Players are invited to events like this based on coaches’ recommendations.

“The Chicago Bears approached me about hosting a pro day for some of our players over Christmas break.  I think it’s a great opportunity for Dordt to host a pro tryout and to showcase our facilities; and I think it’s a great opportunity for our players to be looked at by NFL scouts.  As our program continues to build I expect more Dordt players will have opportunities like this,” said Dordt football coach Joel Penner.
