Sioux Center, Iowa — Dordt will host Hastings in GPAC play on Friday, January 7 starting at about 6:45 pm.
The Hastings Broncos are 6-11 this season and are 1-6 in league play. Hastings started the season with a 6-3 mark after nine games but has lost eight in a row since December 3. Bill Gavers’s team has had several tight losses since a November 20 win over Mount Marty by an 87-67 margin. Hastings pushed Jamestown 91-88 and Midland 83-78 and Graceland 74-72.
Dordt is 12-4 this season and 4-3 in the conference and have won six of its last seven games. The Defenders have a four-point blemish to Northwestern on December 8 which is the only loss in the stretch.
Dordt is outscoring teams 85.1-71.6 and outrebound teams 37.6-32.8 and are converting 51.2 percent of the field goals it tries while opponents make 42.4. Dordt is committing 10 turnovers per game and force 11 and is converting 36.3 percent of its three-point shots.
Bryce Coppock is averaging 17.3 points per game with 4.3 rebounds and Jacob Vis is good for 16.8 points per game with 7.8 rebounds. Cade Bleeker and Luke Rankin average 13 and 10.9 points per game with Bleeker taking in 4.5 rebounds and Rankin hands out 5.3 assists per game. Jackson Louscher and Camden Bialas are at 6.9 and 6.6 points per game. Bleeker has 34 made three-point shots and 42 percent success while Coppock has 25 made and Rankin is at 20 makes and is accurate 40 percent of the time on his three-point shots.
Dordt will host Jamestown on Saturday, January 8 while Hastings will play Northwestern. Dordt is on the road against Doane on Wednesday night next week.
