The Dordt Defenders never led and fell by a 13 point margin to the Morningside Mustangs in Sioux City on Wednesday night.
Morningside started the game with a 16-3 lead after six minutes and still trailed 18-5 with 11:51 left in the half. A Jesse Jansma basket started a 12-0 run that was capped with a Bryce Coppock three-point shot with 9:34 left in the half for an 18-17 deficit.
The Defenders never got closer and trailed 32-26 at halftime.
Dordt was still down 55-45 with 10:57 left in the game. Jesse Jansma knocked down a three-point shot to get Dordt within 55-48 but a basket by Morningside’s Trey Brown started a 9-0 run and Morningside led by at least 11 the rest of the game.
Dordt is 6-3 overall and 2-3 in the league. Morningside is 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the GPAC.
Dordt will host Doane on Saturday with the men’s game starting at 4:00.
