Dordt Men To Battle Northwestern Tonight

Sioux Center, Iowa — The Dordt Defenders will host Northwestern in Great Plains Athletic Conference basketball on Wednesday, December 8 in Sioux Center, Iowa at 7:45 pm.

The Northwestern men are 8-4 this season and have a 1-3 GPAC record and are 1-4 in their last five games. The Raiders are looking to stop a two game losing skid with recent losses to Briar Cliff and Concordia.

Alex Van Kalsbeek leads the team with a 21.4 points per game average to go with 9.7 rebounds and he is making 64 percent of his field goals and averages 2.9 assists per game. Trent Hilbrands adds 18.8 points per game and has made 37 three-point shots. Matt Onken contributes 9.9 points per game and Noah Slagter and Grant DeMeulenaere both have 8.3 points per game averages.

Northwestern is outscoring teams 80.8-69.8 and outrebound teams 37.6-27.9. Northwestern is making 52 percent of its field goals but their four games have resulted in 44 percent field goal shooting and 26 percent three-point success.

Dordt is 10-3 this season and are 2-2 in the GPAC and have won four games in a row since losing back to back games to Morningside and Concordia on November 17 and 20.

Dordt converts 87.7 points per game and allow 72.5 points per outing with a 38.3-33.5 rebounding advantage. Dordt is converting 52.3 percent of its field goals and allow teams to make 42.5. Dordt also makes 37.4 percent of its three-point shots while giving up 33.4 success. Dordt has made 168 free throws while foes have attempted 167.

Jacob Vis scores 17.3 points per game with 7.7 rebounds and Bryce Coppock is good for 16.9 points per game with 20 made three-point shots. Cade Bleeker is good for 13.5 points per game and Luke Rankin is at 11.1 with 5.8 assists. Bleeker’s rebounding average is 4.2 and he has made a team high 29 three-point shots.
