Sioux Center, Iowa — Dordt University maintains its No.2 ranking in this week’s edition of the USTFCCCA Men’s Indoor Track and Field ratings index released by the national office earlier today.
Ranked third in the initial poll back in January, the Defenders own the second spot in the weekly rating for the second consecutive week. They accounted for 160.05 points, behind only defending NAIA Champion Indiana Tech (255.83 points). Grace (Ind.), Oklahoma City and Grand View (Iowa) round out the top five.
Dordt is one of four teams from the GPAC in the top 25; Doane (13), Mount Marty (15) and Midland (16).
The Defenders have qualified 23 entries (20 auto and 3 provisional) into the upcoming NAIA Indoor Championships that will be held in Brookings, S.D. on March 3-5. Dordt has nine top 10 marks (3 relays, 6 individual), led by the distance medley (2nd) and Payton Mauldin (3rd – 600m, 4th – 800m).
Dordt finished second at last week’s GPAC Championships and crowned seven conference champions. 32 Defender entries earned all-conference honors (30 individual, 2 relays).
