Dordt will open the 2020 season on Saturday, September 5 when it hosts two other teams in a quadrangular. Dordt, Northwestern (Iowa) and Northwestern (Minnesota) will play a triangular beginning at 4:00 pm.
The schedule has been adjusted after Peru State was unable to make the trip. Peru State will no longer play matches on Saturday.
Northwestern (Iowa) will face Northwestern (Minnesota) at 4:00 PM and Dordt will play Northwestern (Minnesota) at 6:30 PM.
Northwestern (Iowa) was 32-2 last season and went 16-0 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play. Northwestern returns the bulk of the team that made it to the NAIA National Quarterfinals. Ana Wedel averaged 4.38 kills per set and had a .345 kill efficiency. Makenzie Fink had 3.1 kills per set and AJ Kacmarynski averaged 2.52. Northwestern had a team kill efficiency of .303 and averaged 14.25 kills per set. Lacey Wacker averaged 12.03 assists per set and Emily Strasser got to a team high 4.38 digs per outing.
Northwestern (Minnesota) was 25-9 last season and plays in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Eagles return several athletes from a team that qualified for the NCAA Division III Regional Semifinals. Kalley Schwitters is put down 3.01 kills per set and Kendra Hardy had a 2.54 average. Soleil Newland also returns after averaging 1.81 kills per set. Sydney Schwitters returns to run the setter position after averaging 10.16 assists per outing and Marylyn Schroyer is the top returning digger with a 5.68 average and Kalley Schwitters is at 3.34. Last year’s Eagle team averaged 13.02 kills per set and had a .227 kill efficiency.
The Defenders were 18-11 last season and return a significant portion of the rotation. Megan Raszler is back after averaging 8.41 assists per contest while Karsyn Winterfeld put down 3.17 kills and had 2.37 digs per set last season. Jessi De Jager and Corrina Timmermans averaged 2.47 and 2.43 kills per set for a team that averaged 13.37 kills and had a .218 kill efficiency. Hannah Connelly is the top returning digger with a 4.36 average.
Dordt is scheduled to host Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday, September 7 and will travel to play Northwestern in Orange City on Tuesday, September 13.
