The Dordt softball team was able to get the sweep over Park Friday. They won the first game 5-1, and the second game 12-2.
Dordt’s offense picked up late in the game, leading to a 5-1 win on the road on Friday in Game 1 vs. Park.
The Defenders got on the board first, loading the bases with no outs in the top of the 1st inning, and a double play on the ground ball brought in Hannah Sikkema to give Dordt a 1-0 lead.
Dordt added to their lead in the 4th, as Hannah Sikkema reached on an error that scored Brooklyn Van Oort. In the next at-bat, Kenzie Cunard earned a RBI on a single to center field, extending the Defender lead to 3 runs.
Park scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the 4th, as Meggen Keller singled, allowing Macee Austin to reach home.
Dordt was able to get a couple of insurance runs in the 6th inning. Jessica Oules opened the inning with a hit, stole second base, and scored on the single from Kenzie Cunard. Cunard stole second on the next at-bat, and scored when Rachel Evavold put the ball in play, securing a 5-1 win for the Defenders.

Dordt will play again on Saturday, March 6 in a doubleheader vs. Spring Arbor and Calumet. The Defenders will continue their schedule in Kissimmee, Florida.
