Dordt Sweeps GPAC Cross Country Weekly Honors

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week for October 18-24, 2021. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2021-2022 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Women – Jessica Kampman, Dordt University

Jessica Kampman of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Kampman, a junior from Abbotsford, British Columbia, won her second 5K race of the season, taking first at the Mount Marty Invite held last weekend in Yankton, South Dakota. Kampman crossed the finish line with a season-best time of 18:40, 10 seconds ahead of the second-place runner. She has run sub-19:00 in three meets and has four top 10 finishes this season.

Men – Eric Steiger, Dordt University

Eric Steiger of Dordt University is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Vander Steiger, a senior from Lynden, Washington, won the individual title at the Mount Marty Invite held last weekend at Yankton Trails Park. Steiger ran a season-best 8K time of 25:10 and finished five seconds in front of his teammate, Davis Tebben. Steiger has three top-10 finishes this season and was part of a Defenders team that recorded a perfect team score (15) and that had runners finish 1st – 7th.
