Sioux City, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played October 1-7, 2018. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2018-2019 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week
Attacker – Ema Altena, Dordt College (Outside Hitter)
Dordt’s Ema Altena is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Altena, a senior, from Sioux Center, Iowa, led the Defenders to a perfect 3-0 week while racking up 50 kills. She also had nine blocks and totaled an attacking percentage of .374 on the week.
Setter- Jamie De Jager, Dordt College
Jamie De Jager of Dordt College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. De Jager, a senior from Sioux Center, Iowa, put up nearly 12 assists per set and over four digs per set in Dordt’s in 3-1 win over fourth-ranked Viterbo. She has helped the Defenders to 11 straight match wins dating back to September 7. In all she totaled 130 assists on the week along with four ace serves and 10 blocks.
Defender – Aubrey Drake, Dordt College (Libero)
Dordt’s Aubrey Drake is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Drake, a senior from Rock Island, Illinois, recorded 69 digs in three matches last week. In a 3-1 win over fourth-ranked Viterbo she finished with 25 digs. She also added five assists and four aces serves on the week.
