Dordt Volleyball Falls To Midland

The Dordt Defender volleyball team went on the road and lost a 25-19, 25-12, 25-22 decision to Midland in Fremont, Nebraska on Saturday afternoon, October 10.

The Defenders allowed seven points in a row early in set one and got down 10-3 and were never able to fully recover. Dordt got to within four on four different occasions, the last time at 23-19 on a Brenna Krommendyk kill.

The Defenders got down 16-7 in set two, prompting a timeout. Jessi De Jager had a kill out of the timeout but Dordt was unable to string points together and lost the set 25-12.

The Warriors led from the start in set three as well, holding off a couple Dordt charges to get within one, the last time at 9-8 with Krommendyk and Alli Timmermans combining for a block. The lead grew to 15-8 before Dordt rallied to within two at 18-16 after a Corrina Timmermans kill. The gap was two again on four occasions but the Defenders were unable to get back to back points to tighten the game in further and lost 25-22.

Dordt is now 6-5 overall and 5-5 in the league.

Midland is 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the GPAC.

Dordt will host Doane on Friday night, October 16 and Hastings on Saturday afternoon, October 17.
