Sioux Center, Iowa — Dordt will play a GPAC match on Friday, October 2 against Concordia at the De Witt Gym in Sioux Center. The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 31. The JV match will start at 6:00 and the varsity match at 7:30.
Concordia is off to a 4-0 start this season with wins over Midland (twice), Doane and Hastings. The Bulldogs are a combined 12-1 in sets against opponents. Last season the Bulldogs had a breakthrough year with a 25-8 overall record and an 11-5 mark and they posted a 2-2 mark in pool play at the NAIA National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Bulldogs have a 14.1-10.8 kills per set average advantage and boast a .264 kill efficiency. Concordia also gets 1.6 points per set on ace serves and 2.4 points per set on blocks. Gabi Nordaker is averaging 3.0 kills per set with a .410 kill efficiency and she leads the team in blocks with 1.6 per set. Camryn Opfer and Kara Stark each get 2.8 kills per outing and Opfer has a .278 kill efficiency. Arleigh Costello puts down 2.62 kills per set with a .260 kill efficiency and Tara Callahan runs the offense with an 11.4 assists per set average. Marissa Hoerman leads the team with 4.85 digs per set.
The Defenders are 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the league after back to back losses to Jamestown.
Dordt is averaging 13.0 kills per set with a .235 kill efficiency and have a 31-15 ace serves edge. The Defenders also record 2.76 points per set on blocks while allowing 11.7 kills per set with 1.44 blocks per outing.
Karsyn Winterfeld leads a balanced Dordt attack with 2.84 kills per set and she also gets to 2.72 digs per set. Jessi De Jager knocks down 2.64 kills per set with a .377 kill efficiency and Brenna Krommendyk is good for 2.48 kills with 1.36 blocks per outing. Corrina Timmermans averages 1.92 kills per outing with a 2.52 digs per set average and she leads the team in ace serves with 12 this season. Jori Bronner is at 1.8 kills with a .393 kill efficiency. Megan Raszler puts up 6.28 assists per set and Corina Beimers was averaging 4.9 assists per outing entering play this week. Hannah Connelly tops the team with 5.04 digs per set.
Dordt will travel to Northwestern on Monday, October 5 and Morningside on Wednesday, October 7.
