Sioux Center, Iowa — The Defenders will host Midland at 7:00 in the GPAC Quarterfinals on Saturday, April 3 at the De Witt Gym.
Midland is 10-8 this season and 9-7 in GPAC play. The Warriors have not played since winning a 3-2 decision from Hastings on November 20. Midland started the season with a 2-5 record and posted an 8-3 record from that point forward.
Midand is averaging 13.94 kills per set with a .218 kill efficiency and get 1.75 points per set on blocks with 1.52 service aces per contest. Midland allows 10.67 kills per contest and have teams get 2.36 points per set on blocks.
Taliyah Flores is averaging a team high 3.54 kills per set with a .246 kill efficiency and Maggie Hiatt’s kill per set average is 2.99. Sydney Morehouse averages 2.8 kills per outing and Hope Leimbach runs the offense and has a 12.01 assists per set average. Jaisa Russell is leading the team with 4.23 digs per outing and Flores gets to 3.42.
The Defenders are 14-5 overall and 11-5 in the league after winning eight straight matches spanning the end of the 2020 portion of the schedule and the start of the 2021 semester.
Dordt is averaging 13.3 kills per set with a .239 kill efficiency and has a 81-57 ace serves edge. The Defenders also record 2.6 points per set on blocks while allowing 12.0 kills per set with 1.5 blocks against per outing.
Jessi De Jager is averaging 2.8 kills per set and Brenna Krommendyk’s average is 2.5. Krommendyk has a .394 kill efficiency De Jager is at .305. Krommendyk’s block average is 1.3 per outing while Alli Timmermans lifted her kill average to 2.4 as well and has a .340 kill efficiency. Corrina Timmermans is averaging 2.3 kills per set in a very balanced Dordt attack.
Hannah Connelly tops the Defenders with a 5.0 digs per set average and Corrina Timmermans is at 2.3 digs. Megan Raszler puts up 6.9 assists per set and Corina Beimers is averaging 4.9.
Midland was 3-2 winner over Hastings on November 20 by set scores of 25-20, 23-25, 20-25, 26-24, 15-13. Florehouse had 23 kills and Morehouse 17 while Hiatt recorded 13. Leimbach put up 67 assists and Russell had 27 digs.
Dordt beat Grand View 25-22, 25-15, 25-18 last week with Jessi De Jager putting away ten kills and Corrina Timmermans had eight kills. Hannah Connelly had 19 digs and Raszler and Beimers had 17 and 15 assists respectively.
Midland beat Dordt 3-0 on October 10 by set scores of 25-19, 25-12, 25-22. De Jager and Krommendyk each had eight kills for the Defenders and Raszler put up 15 assists. Midland was topped by Flores with 14 kills and Hiatt had 13 with Leimbach putting up 42 assists.
The winner of this match will play the Jamestown-Morningside winner on Wednesday, April 7 at the highest remaining seed. If Jamestown wins they will host if Morningside wins they will travel to either Dordt or Midland.
