Dordt Volleyball Hosts Northwestern Tuesday Night

Dordt will host Northwestern on Tuesday night, October 27 in GPAC play at the De Witt Gym. The junior varsity match gets underway at 6:00 with the varsity match to get underway at 7:30.

Northwestern is 12-1 this season and 10-1 in league play. Northwestern’s only loss is a 3-0 loss to Dordt on October 5. The Raiders have not gone to five sets with a team this season and have gone four sets five times.

Northwestern is averaging 14.2 kills per set with a .282 kill efficiency. The Raiders also get 2.4 points per set on blocks and allow teams 11.1 kills per outing with 1.5 blocks surrendered. Northwestern allows teams a .138 kill efficiency and have given up an average of 1.3 ace serves per contest while getting 1.1 themselves.

Anna Wedel averages 3.7 kills per set with a .266 kill efficiency and she gets to 3.0 digs and has five service aces this season. Makenzie Fink averages 3.0 kills per outing and AJ Kacmarynski and Emily Van Ginkel account for 2.8 and 2.5 kills per outing. Lacey Reitz is putting up 11.9 assists per outing and Emily Strasser gets 4.7 digs per contest to lead the Raiders in that category.

The Defenders are 11-5 overall and 10-5 in the league after winning five straight matches.

Dordt is averaging 13.1 kills per set with a .242 kill efficiency and has a 73-45 ace serves edge. The Defenders also record 2.5 points per set on blocks while allowing 12.1 kills per set with 1.4 blocks against per outing.

Jessi De Jager and Brenna Krommendyk each average 2.5 kills per set with Krommendyk at .393 for a kill efficiency and De Jager is .308. Krommendyk’s block average is 1.3 per outing while De Jager is 0.8. Alli Timmermans has lifted her kill average to 2.5 as well and has a .348 kill efficiency. Karsyn Winterfeld and Corrina Timmermans are averaging 2.4 and 2.1 kills per set in a very balanced Dordt attack.

Hannah Connelly tops the Defenders with a 4.7 digs per set average and Winterfeld is averaging 2.9. Megan Raszler puts up 7.2 assists per set and Corina Beimers is averaging 4.7.

The Defenders turned away Northwestern on Monday, October 5 by set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-16 behind 12 kills by Corrina Timmermans and 11 from Alli Timmermans. Jessi De Jager and Brenna Krommendyk each added nine kills and De Jager was in on four solo blocks and two block assists. Anna Wedel had 12 kills to lead Northwestern and Reitz had 27 assists.

This will conclude the Dordt fall season with the GPAC postseason tournament scheduled for April 2021. Northwestern will host Midland on October 31 and has three more matches scheduled against Morningside and Jamestown (twice).
