Dordt Volleyball Opens GPAC Tournament Saturday In Omaha

Omaha, Nebraska — Dordt travels to face the College of Saint Mary on Saturday, November 6 in a GPAC quarterfinal round contest at 3:00. The match will be played on the College of Saint Mary campus in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Flames are 24-4 this season and 13-3 in the GPAC with losses to Jamestown, Hastings and Midland in league play and a out of league loss to Viterbo. The Flames have won 13 of their last 15 matches and have a 10-0 record at home.

The Defenders are 17-8 this season and finished the league year with a 9-7 mark and were tied with Northwestern and Concordia for fifth place in the GPAC standings. Dordt is 7-3 since October 6 when they beat Morningside. Prior to the Morningside win the Defenders had lost four matches in a row to Jamestown (twice), Northwestern and Dakota Wesleyan. The Defenders later avenged the loss to Northwestern and recently battled Midland to a 3-2 loss on October 30.

Corrina Timmermans records 3.39 kills per set with a .192 kill efficiency and she leads the team with 34 service aces and she also gets to 2.33 digs per set. Jessi Franken has a 2.59 kills per set average with a .260 kill efficiency and her blocks per set average is at 1.06. Alli Timmermans has lifted her kills per set average to 2.49 and her kill efficiency is .286 and her blocks per set average is just under one per set. Grace Langemeier, Danielle Vande Voort and Ava Van Soelen all average between a kill and a kill and a half per set. Megan Raszler is averaging 6.38 assists per outing and Campbell Marshall is at 4.37 assists as Dordt has settled on a 6-2 offense. Erica Bousema is the leading defensive player off the net with a 5.47 digs per set average and Mia Gamet averages 2.42.

The Defenders average 12.41 kills per set while allowing 12.17 and the Defenders get 2.38 blocks per set while allowing 1.71. The Defenders also have a 125-100 season advantage on ace serves and have gotten 22 aces from Gamet and 20 from Raszler.

The winner of this match will face the Midland-Concordia winner. If the College of Saint Mary wins they will host the semifinal round match. If Dordt wins they will travel to the Midland-Concordia winner on Wednesday night, November 10.
