Sioux Center, Iowa — Today is part II in a three-part series previewing the 2021 Dordt women’s volleyball season. Part I covered a 2020 recap and a look ahead at the 2021 schedule and included information about the coaching staff. Today we look at the varsity roster as we begin the season.
The 2021 roster includes five seniors; five juniors, three sophomores and four freshmen. Nine players who were in the regular rotation of players that finished in the semifinals of the NAIA National Championship also return.
Brenna Krommendykr returns for her junior season after claiming first-team NAIA All-American honors along with GPAC first-team accolades. She was chosen to the All-Tournament Team at the NAIA National Championship and also was named the Defensive Player of the Year at both the tournament and for the regular season. Krommendyk averaged 1.4 blocks per set with 2.48 kills per outing with a .391 kill efficiency.
Jessi Franken, formerly Jessi De Jager, returns for her senior season after averaging 2.55 kills per set with a .286 kill efficiency. Franken was a second-team all-GPAC pick last season.
Alli Timmermans will fill a unique roll with the team acting as a player/assistant coach as she uses her final year of eligibility and transitions into an assistant coaching role. Timmermans averaged 2.57 kills per set with nearly a block per set and her kill efficiency was .342. She also earned NAIA All-American honorable mention honors and was a first-team All-GPAC pick while also being named to the All-Tournament Team at the NAIA National Championship.
Corrina Timmermans adds to the potent roster of returning attackers with a 2.42 kills per set average and she also handled 2.22 digs per set. Timmermans claimed all-GPAC honorable mention honors.
Megan Raszler is back for her junior season and averaged 6.75 assists per set and she had 1.49 digs with 15 service aces.
Corina Beimers filled the other half of the setter position and averaged 4.51 assists per outing.
Erica Bousema averaged 2.28 digs per set last season, joining the team in the second semester for eight matches.
Emma Bousema was a service specialist with 10 service aces last year in 24 matches played.
Ava Van Soelen averaged nearly a kill per set in 10 matches.
Grace Langemeier played in 15 matches with a one kill per set average.
Makenna Kooima saw time in 13 matches as a defensive specialist and server.
Mia Gamet played for Sergeant Bluff Luton and was a three-year starter for the Warriors and averaged 4.2 digs per set and ended her career with 1,008 digs. Gamet earned all-state honors during her career at SBL.
Riley Freeland played setter and rightside hitter for Rapid City Christian and had over 2,250 career assists and she had 417 career kills with 847 digs.
Campbell Marshall graduated from Timothy Christian (Illinois) and averaged over 6.3 assists in 2018 and 2019 and totaled 969 career assists. Both Marshall and Freeland are listed 6-1.
Sienna Moss was an all-state selection for Western Christian (Iowa) while helping the Wolfpack to two state titles and a state semifinal appearance. She had 519 kills and 204 blocks during her career.
Riley Doenhofer competed for the Dordt junior varsity team as a freshman last season.
Danielle Vande Voort played in two varsity matches for Dordt and also competed for the junior varsity team.
