Dordt Volleyball Sweeps Reinhardt

The Dordt College Defender volleyball team opened play at the NAIA National Championship with a 3-0 win over Reinhardt in pool play on Wednesday, November 28 in Sioux City.

Reinhardt led in all three sets but those leads were short lived in two of the sets and the Eagles surrendered a run at the midpoint of the third set and couldn’t keep pace with the Defenders.

Dordt used a 6-0 run to take a 7-3 lead in set one and then closed the set by scoring 11 of the last 12 points in a 25-7 win.

Reinhardt led 1-0 in set two but Dordt scored 12 of the next 14 points to lead 12-3 and rolled 25-12 in the set.

Dordt limited Reinhardt to eight kills in sets one and two combined while hitting for over a .500 kill efficiency.

Reinhardt, the Appalachian Conference champions with a perfect 19-0 record, managed to take an 11-8 lead for the Defenders again got a string of points, this time with Jamie De Jager in the service area and led 18-13 when she left and the Defender lead was never under four the rest of the set.
