Sioux Center, Iowa — The Defenders will host Ottawa in a Friday afternoon match in the resumption of the 2020-21 season. The match will begin at 4:30 pm.
Ottawa was 10-3 in the first semester of this season and then resumed play in late January and has compiled a 13-2 record in 2021 for an overall mark of 23-5. Ottawa is currently leading the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 19-2 mark and will play three more matches before the postseason.
Ottawa is averaging 13.0 kills per set with a .215 kill efficiency. The Braves are allowing 10.96 kills and a .119 kill efficiency. Ottawa also records 2.67 points per set on blocks and they have a season advantage of 141-122 with service aces.
The Defenders are 12-5 overall and 11-5 in the league after winning six straight matches to end the 2020 portion of the season.
Dordt is averaging 13.1 kills per set with a .242 kill efficiency and has a 77-49 ace serves edge. The Defenders also record 2.5 points per set on blocks while allowing 12.1 kills per set with 1.4 blocks against per outing.
Jessi De Jager is averaging 2.6 kills per set and Brenna Krommendyk’s average is 2.5. Krommendyk has a .387 kill efficiency De Jager is at .291. Krommendyk’s block average is 1.4 per outing while Alli Timmermans lifted her kill average to 2.5 as well and has a .352 kill efficiency. Corrina Timmermans is averaging 2.3 kills per set in a very balanced Dordt attack.
Hannah Connelly tops the Defenders with a 4.7 digs per set average and Corrina Timmermans is at 2.2 kills. Megan Raszler puts up 7.0 assists per set and Corina Beimers is averaging 4.8.
Dordt turned away Northwestern back on October 27 to conclude the first semester play and finish a six match winning streak. Dordt was a 25-22, 22-25, 26-24, 25-18 winner behind Corrina Timmermans’ 17 kills and Jessi De Jager had 11. Raszler and Beimers had 21 assist each and Connelly got to 23 digs.
Dordt will travel to Grand View to face the Vikings on March 23 at 4:30 pm in the final tune-up before the GPAC Tournament begins on Saturday, April 3.
