Dordt Women At Hastings Saturday

Dordt will travel to Hastings to face the Broncos on Saturday, January 29 starting at 3:45. The change in scheduling is to accommodate a special event recognizing Hastings’s national championship women’s teams.

HASTINGS
The Hastings Broncos are 11-10 overall and stand 7-8 in league play and has won three out of their last four games.

Hastings outscores teams 70-68 and outrebound teams 39-38. The Broncos convert 40 percent of its field goals and allow 41 percent for foes.

Taylor Beacom scores 11.1 points per game and has made 22 three-point shots with 2.4 assists per game. Riley Clavel is good for 11.1 points per game and has 28 made three-point shots and Ali Smith is at 9.8 points per game and Katharine Hamburger gets 4.5 rebounds and Dawson Knode is at 5.1 rebounds per game to lead the team.

DORDT
Dordt is 17-6 overall and 10-5 in the GPAC. The Defenders have won 10 games in a row and 11 of their last 12 since a December 8 win over Northwestern.

The Defenders average 74 points per game and allow 66 while outrebounding teams 40-34. The Defenders have converted 42 percent of their field goals and 31 percent from the three-point line while opponents are making 39 percent of their field goals and 32 three-point shots.

Ashtyn Veerbeek scores 19 points per game with 9.4 rebounds and Bailey Beckman has scored 11.9 points per game with a team best 42 made three-point shots. Karly Gustafson adds 10.9 points per game with 8.0 rebounds and Janie Schoonhoven’s average is 7.9 with 5.8 rebounds and she makes 61 percent of her field goals. Hayden Heimensen and Mya Chmielewski add 7.7 and 7.5 points per game and Macey Neilson has 27 made three-point baskets and Heimensen has 25.

LAST TIME
Hastings beat Concordia on Wednesday night 68-60. The teams were tied 14-14 at the end of the first quarter and Concordia led 28-26 at halftime. Concordia increased the lead to 46-39 with ten minutes to go but Hastings responded with a 27-14 run in the fourth quarter, using 14-15 free throw shooting to stage the comeback and secure the win in the final 10 minutes. Katharine Hamburger scored 20 and Kiernan Paulk had 14 in a reserve effort while converting 4-6 field goals. Taylor Beacom scored 12 with five rebounds as Hastings held a 42-37 rebounding edge.

The Defender women held on for a 67-65 win over Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday night with Veerbeek scoring 26 and Beckman 14 while Gustafson had 10 rebounds and Chmielewski and Schoonhoven had seven.
