Jamestown, ND — Dordt will travel to Jamestown on Saturday, February 19 to face the Jimmies at 2:00 pm.
The Jimmies are 18-11 this season and 11-10 in GPAC play. The Jimmies stopped a two game losing skid with a win over the College of Saint Mary on February 17 and are 2-3 in their last five games. The Jimmies have been up and down since January 1, taking four losses in a row from January 1-12 and then winning five games in a row from January 15-29.
The Dordt Defenders are 22-7 this season and 15-6 in league play. Dordt saw a 15 game winning streak stopped on Wednesday night in a loss to Northwestern, 72-62. The lost was the first for Dordt since an 80-75 setback against Dakota Wesleyan on December 11.
The Defenders are outscoring teams 75-65 and outrebound teams 39-34. Dordt is also converting 44 percent of its field goals and 38.8 percent is allowed for opponents.
Ashtyn Veerbeek is scoring a team high 18.7 points per game and converts 51.4 percent of her field goals and 39.1 percent of her three-point shots and she is taking in 9.4 rebounds per game with 2.1 assists, 3.3 blocked shots and 1.1 steals. Bailey Beckman converts 12.8 points per game and Karly Gustafson adds 11.1 points per contest with 7.6 rebounds. Beckman is the team leader with 55 made three-point baskets and Janie Schoonhoven comes off the bench to deliver eight points and 5.5 rebounds and she is converting 65.8 percent of her field goals. Hayden Hiemensen is good for 7.8 points per game and Mya Chmielewski is good for 6.8 and Macey Nielson is making 38.2 percent of her three-point shots and she has 34 made three-point baskets.
Both Dordt and Jamestown will advance to the GPAC Tournament beginning on Wednesday night, February 23. The bracket for the eight-team field will be announced late Saturday night.
