Dordt Women Travel To Briar Cliff Saturday

Sioux City, Iowa — Dordt will travel to face Briar Cliff in Sioux City, Iowa on Saturday, February 20 at 2:00 pm.

The Briar Cliff Chargers are 16-8 this season and 14-7 in the GPAC. The Chargers started the season with a 6-0 record and have a pair of three game winning steaks as well and are currently on a three-game winning streak with wins over the College of Saint Mary, Jamestown and Hastings. The Chargers haven’t played since February 6. Briar Cliff is 8-2 at home.

Briar Cliff has outscored teams 72-63.2 this season and have outrebounded teams 40-34.9 while converting 41.1 percent of its field goals while allowing teams to make 39.6 percent of their shots.

Dordt is 14-10 this season and 13-8 in the GPAC after a win over Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday, February 10. Dordt is 12-5 since December 5 and is outscoring teams 71.8-65.4 and outrebounding teams 44.7-35.1. Dordt converts 40.2 percent of its field goals while allowing teams to make 37 percent. Dordt also has made 32.6 percent of its three-point shots while opponents have made 32 percent.

Ashtyn Veerbeek is scoring 15.5 points per game while grabbing 10.5 rebounds per contest and she is making 45.1 percent of her field goal attempts and she is averaging 2.5 assists. Erika Feenstra is good for 13.0 points per game and 5.1 rebounds while converting 48.9 percent of her field goal tries. Karly Gustafson adds 11.4 points per game and she makes 51.9 percent of her field goals and she takes in 6.5 rebounds. Mya Chmielewski and Bailey Tetzlaff add 5.1 and 5.3 points per game respectively. Tetzlaff has 23 steals and Jordyn Winterfeld has 21. Veerbeek is the team leader in three-point baskets made with 34 and a total of nine Defenders have 12 or more three-point baskets made this season.

Briar Cliff was a 79-69 winner on November 24 in Sioux Center. Dordt led 42-38 at halftime but the Chargers took the lead 56-55 with 2:09 left in the

Dordt will advance to the GPAC Postseason Tournament starting on Wednesday, February 17. Pairings for the eight-team tournament will be announced late Saturday night.
