Dordt Women Win 15th Straight

Sioux Center, Iowa — The Dordt Defenders broke out of a one-point halftime deficit to pick up an 85-56 win, their 15th in a row. The win moved their record to 22-6, 15-5 in conference play.

The Defenders got out to a 21-5 lead in the first quarter, using a 10-0 run opened by a Bailey Beckman three-pointer. Macey Nielson also made a three during the run, helping Dordt to a 21-10 advantage after the first quarter.

Doane edged back into the game throughout the second after Dordt outscored the Tigers 9-4 out of a timeout. Doane converted on an and-one opportunity for Mak Hatcliff to bring the score within two. Ashley Teten then ended the half with a made layup to take a 36-35 lead into the break.

Dordt regained the lead in the first minute of the third, going on a 6-0 run started by an Ashtyn Veerbeek jump shot, making the score 41-36. With 5:02 left in the third, Faith Van Holland made a three to extend the lead to double-digits.

Leading 59-47 to start the fourth quarter, Dordt built their lead to 19 on Bailey Beckman’s three with eight minutes to go. The remaining minutes of the game were controlled by the Defenders, who held their largest lead at the final buzzer, a 29-point conference win on Senior Day.
