Dordt Women Win Sixth Straight

Crete, Nebraska — The Defender women’s basketball team built up their win streak to six games after defeating Doane with balanced scoring and effective post play. Ashtyn Veerbeek followed up GPAC Player of the Week performances with a double-double on the road tonight.

The Tigers flipped the score in the final minute, leading 25-20 after Kali Staples’ jump shot fell through. In the closing seconds, Bailey Beckman beat the buzzer from half court as the Defenders entered the second with a two-point deficit.

Dordt took a 27-25 point lead with 9:02 in the second on Karly Gustafson’s basket. Their lead extended to 36-29 with a Mya Chmielewski three that forced a Doane timeout. Liv Ritter made the score 47-34 later before Dordt took a 47-38 lead into the half.
