Garrett Franken became the 41st player in Dordt men’s basketball history to score at least one-thousand career points with a basket late Saturday, November 14 against Midland in Fremont, Nebraska.
Franken entered the game with 986 points and scored his 14th and 15th points on a basket with 2:30 left in the game as Dordt won a GPAC road game 83-72.
“Garrett has improved each and every season, and has been a model of consistency. You can count on him each and every night to be a productive player in a lot of different ways. He has worked hard for this accomplishment, and I am really happy for Garrett,” said Dordt men’s basketball coach Brian Van Haaften.
Franken, a senior from Atlantic, Iowa, has 1,001 career points and ranks 40th all-time in scoring at Dordt. He scored 439 points in 2018-19 and 492 points in 2019-20. He currently has 70 points through five games in 2020-21. He’s a career 46.4 percent field goal shooter and is approaching 500 career rebounds and currently has 479.
