Drake Football Falls At No. 11 Montana State

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Drake University football team couldn’t overcome a fast start by No. 11 Montana State Saturday night at Bobcat Stadium. Montana State (1-1) started the game with 24-straight points against Drake (1-1) with the final score 45-7 in just the fourth-ever meeting between the teams.

The Bulldogs broke through right before halftime as quarterback Ian Corwin tossed a two-yard touchdown pass to running back Cross Robinson with just 11 seconds before the break. Corwin finished with 149 yards on 14-of-23 passing while Robinson added 37 yards. Wide receiver Colin Howard had another strong performance with three catches for 66 yards.

Bobcats’ quarterback McKay threw for 256 yards on 19-of-25 passing with three touchdowns. McCutcheon had 121 receiving yards on seven catches and caught one touchdown.

Alex Rogers, the reigning Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Week, led the Bulldogs’ defense with 10 tackles, including one tackle for loss.

Following Saturday’s game, Drake stays on the road going to No. 9 North Dakota on Sept. 18.
