Drake Hosts Presbyterian For Regular-Season Finale

DES MOINES, Iowa – Kickoff for Saturday’s Drake vs. Presbyterian football regular-season finale has been moved back one hour to 2 p.m. at Drake Stadium.

The first meeting between Drake and Presbyterian will be broadcast via Mediacom MC22 and broadcast on the radio on 1350 ESPN Des Moines.

Saturday’s season finale will also be ‘Senior Day’ for five Bulldogs as the team honors Brady Bjorkman, Braeden Hartwig, Conner Furu, Harrison Murray and Ben Nienhuis before the 2 p.m. kickoff

Drake (2-2 PFL) dominated the Butler Bulldogs 33-7 this past weekend to increase their series winning streak over Butler to five games. Drake’s offense was electric, totaling 431 total yards, while their defense allowed just 218 yards.

Quarterback Ian Corwin led the Bulldogs to that victory by taking over in the second quarter to complete 7-of-8 passes on his way to 75 passing yards and three touchdowns. All of those touchdowns came in that second quarter, along with an impressive forced safety, to give Drake a 23-0 lead going into the half. Corwin, who only played in the second quarter was named PFL Offensive Player of the Week.

Drake’s defense almost recorded a shutout, but Butler dashed those hopes when Butler’s Luka Popovic hauled in a ball from Bret Bushka with just 1:31 remaining in the game, a score that ruined what would have been the first Drake shutout since the 2011 season. This touchdown came on their last drive of the game for the 33-7 finish with nearly half of Butler’s offense coming in the final six minutes of the game.

Presbyterian (3-3) is coming off back-to-back wins over Stetson and PFL champion Davidson for the Blue Hose’s first two-game win streak since the 2017 season.

This game will be the first ever meeting between Drake and Presbyterian. The Blue Hose will join the PFL full time for the 2021 fall season.
