Dutch Take Two From Orabs

moc_Floyd Valley logoSheldon Iowa — MOC Floyd Valley took both ends of a Siouxland Conference basketball doubleheader in Sheldon Tuesday night. The girls game went to the Lady Dutch 62-36 while the boys final was 73-58.

The Lady Dutch led at all the breaks up 16-10 at the end of the first quarter and 33-20 at the half. At the end of the third quarter the lead was 50-27 as they went on to the win.

Breanna Schuiteman hit for a game high 17 points with Destiny Einerwold and Morgan De Jong adding 10 points each. Sheldon was led by Kayla Van Meeteren with 10 points and Sydney Iedema with 9.

With the win MOC Floyd Valley moves to 10-6 on the year and 9-4 in the conference. Sheldon is 3-14 on the season and 2-12 in the conference.

 

In the boys game the Dutch took a 15-10 first quarter lead with the Orabs pulling to within 32-30 at the half. At the end of three the game was still tight with MOC Floyd Valley up 49-44. In the final three minutes the Dutch would take control at the free throw line to win it 73-58. In the fourth the Dutch went 11-0f-17 at the line.

Kyle Boerhave  had a game high 18 points with Jaden Kleinhesselink hitting for 15 and Sam Wagner adding a dozen off the bench. The Dutch were led by Levi Jansen and Christian Korver with 17 each. Brady Schutt hit for 12 points to join them in double figures.

With the win the Dutch are 12-3 on the year and 10-2 in the conference. Sheldon is even at 8-8 on the year and 8-5 in the Siouxland.

Up next for Sheldon will be a home double header Friday night with Sioux Center. MOC Floyd Valley will host Rock Valley on Friday night.
