Emily Van Ginkel to Continue Volleyball Career at Northwestern

VanGinkelOrange City Iowa — Emily Van Ginkel from Rock Valley has signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at Northwestern College next fall.

A multi-sports standout, Van Ginkel is a 5’11” outside hitter and two-year starter for the Western Christian High School volleyball team. Van Ginkel averaged 2.2 kills per set, hit .258 and totaled 44 blocks in leading the Wolfpack to their second consecutive state championship last fall with a 41-6 overall record. She earned second team all-conference and academic all-state honors as a senior. Also a letterwinner and state champion for the Wolfpack track and field team, Van Ginkel is a member of the National Honor Society and is the daughter of Paul and Andrea.

Northwestern volleyball coach Kyle Van Den Bosch said, “Emily is a great addition to our volleyball program. She is an outstanding attacker who can swing multiple locations along the net. With her athleticism and length, Emily’s best volleyball is still ahead. We are very excited to welcome Emily to our campus and volleyball team.”
