Estherville Lincoln Central Spoils Sheldon Homecoming

Sheldon Iowa — Estherville Lincoln Central downed Sheldon 17-6 to spoil the Orabs homecoming Friday night.

The Midgets got on the board first with a 69 yard drive that came to a close when Weston Shasteen scored on a 4 yard run. Aldo Alvarado added the extra point and E-LC  had the lead at 7-0 with 1:22 left in the first quarter.

With time winding down in the first half the Orab defense forced a field goal attempt and Alvarado was good from 25 yards out to give the Midgets a 10-0 lead with :48 seconds left in the half.

In the 4th quarter Matt Christensen was on the receiving end of a 70 yard pass from sophomore quarterback Ryan Schlitz who was getting his first varsity start. Alvarado’s kick made the score 17-0 with 9:25 left in the game.

Sheldon answered with 8:21 to play. On a 4th and 12 from the Estherville Lincoln Central 28 Kaleb Ackerman found Tyrel Lindemann for the catch and score. The extra point was blocked and 17-6 would be the final score.

The District schedule starts next Friday. Sheldon will take a 1-3 record into their district opener at MOC Floyd Valley. Estherville Lincoln Central will take a 2-2 record into a home game against Spirit Lake.
