Sioux Center, Iowa — Five Dordt College softball players have been accorded post-season honors for the recently completed 2015 softball season.
Kassidy Van Voorst a Junior from Boyden along with Ashton Beaird a Senior from Rapid City, South Dakota earned first-team honors while Erica White (Senior; Johnston, Iowa) earned second-team honors. Andrea Pierce (Sophomore; Denver, Colorado) and Amanda Malinowski (Freshman; Yucaipa, California) both earned honorable mention honors.
Van Voorst batted .297 and led the team with 47 runs scored and she led the country in stolen bases with 57. She also had 46 hits and nine doubles for the Defenders.
Beaird capped her career with a .373 batting average along with 56 hits, 13 doubles, 12 homeruns and 42 runs batted in while posting a .713 slugging percentage.
White batted .299 with 46 hits, nine doubles, six homeruns and topped the team with 48 runs batted in.
Pierce had 46 hits with three doubles and 29 runs scored and started all 47 games for the Defenders this season.
Malinowski posted an 11-8 record this season with a 3.98 earned run average while striking out 34 batters in 103 and two-third innings of work and walked just 19 batters.
The Defenders posted a 9-11 GPAC record in 2015 and an overall record of 19-28 and they advanced to the GPAC playoffs this season.
