Rock Valley Iowa — The Iowa football playoffs enter round two on Friday. After earning a first round bye Boyden Hull Rock Valley will host Storm Lake in the second round at Rock Valley.
The Nighthawks earned a first round bye as a co-champion of 3A District 1. They finished at 5-2 on the year while Storm Lake has posted a 3-5 record. The Tornadoes advanced with a 36-28 win over Le Mars last Friday in their playoff opener in Storm Lake. The Tornadoes scored 22 straight second half points to erase a 22-14 halftime deficit on route to the win over visiting LeMars at Tornado Field.
Storm Lake and Boyden Hull Rock Valley met in the final week of the regular season at Hull. The Nighthawks earned a 28-14 win after leading at the half 21-7.
It’s the first bye of his career as either a coach or player for Boyden Hull Rock Valley Head Coach Corey Brandt. He talks about what his team and staff have been up to since the regular season finale.
