Former Mustang earns GPAC Track and Field Outdoor Athlete-of-the-Week

Dordt University’s Payton Mauldin is this week’s track athlete-of-the-week as announced by the Great Plains Athletic Conference Wednesday, April 3.

Mauldin, a senior from George, Iowa, and a former track and field standout for the George-Little Rock Mustangs hit the ‘A’ standard in two events at the Wayne State Wildcat Classic, winning the 400-meter dash with a school-record and meet record time of 46.69 seconds. His time is the No.1 time in the NAIA.

Mauldin was also part of a Defenders 4×100 relay that took first and hit the NAIA ‘A’ standard with a time of 40.96 seconds, 10th-fastest in the NAIA. Mauldin also recorded a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.08 seconds.
