Central Lyon dancer Georgie Oedekoven earned first place in the class 3 Soloist finals recently at the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Associations state competition.
Oedekoven had a long wait hear the results as they start with the tenth-place person and count down from there. It wasn’t until the second place finisher was revealed the Oedekoven knew she had won the competition.
Oedekoven is extremely involved in extra curricular activities at Central Lyon High School. She also plays basketball and volleyball, and dances for both Central Lyon and a studio located in Sioux Falls.
A typical day has her up in the mornings at 6:00 and off to dance team practice, then school followed by volleyball or basketball practice depending on the season. After that comes a trip to the dance studio in Sioux Falls in the evenings.
