Sioux City, Iowa – In the second year as an official conference sport, Doane University totaled 199 points in the preseason poll and is picked to win the 2025-26 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Wrestling Championship. The Tigers won the inaugural tournament championship last year with 187.5 points.
Hastings is picked second this year with 190 points, while Midland is third with 162. Waldorf is picked fourth, Morningside fifth, and Dakota Wesleyan sixth in the early season poll.
The poll, compiled by the NAIA, was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each conference. The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking is recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot.
The 2026 GPAC Women’s Wresting Championship will be on February 28 at Hastings. GPAC women’s wrestling will also have a regular season dual day this year, scheduled for February 14 at Doane. Each member school will wrestle in a single round robin with a regular season champion crowned in conjunction with the tournament title.
