Sheldon, Iowa — Congratulations to Sheldon Orab Senior Brooklyn Grady who was named the Iowa High School Activity Directors Association Northwest Iowa Student Scholarship for 2020/2021.
Grady, a four year starter for the Orabs, broke the Orab Girls Basketball school record for career points Tuesday night at Rock Valley.
Brooklyn has 920 points for her career heading into Saturday’s Regional Quarterfinal game at MOC-Floyd Valley. The previous record was 919 held by Merideth Jonas (Vos) who played from 1999-2002.
Earning the IHSADA District Scholarship is an outstanding achievement. To qualify, students must obtain a grade point average of B+ or higher, an overall ACT score of 24 and be ranked in the top 25% of their class. The applicants must also have participated in 2 sports for at least 2 years in each sport, earned at least 1 varsity letter in each of the 2 sports.
In accordance with Iowa High School Athletic Director Association (IHSADA) purpose to promote, facilitate, and increase the knowledge and understanding of the vital role of interscholastic athletics & activities in the educational system, the scholarship program fosters and acknowledges the partnership between the IHSADA and secondary education.
The scholarship recognizes the distinguished scholastic, leadership, and citizenship attributes of high school student athletes, and the importance of high school athletics in each student’s life.
