Des Moines, Iowa — Two Iowa teams collide on Saturday in the opening round of the NAIA football playoffs when Grand View hosts Dordt.
Grand View was the 2013 national champion and opens as the two seed. Coach Joe Woodley’s team was 6-0 during the fall and did manage to get a scrimmage in this spring against Minnesota State-Mankato.
This game will match a Grand View defense that gives up just over nine points per game against a Dordt offense that is scoring just over 47 points per contest.
Woodley says that will likely be the key match up.
Woodley says the Vikings will need to contain Dordt quarterback Noah Clayberg.
Joel Penner has built a consistent winner at Dordt and this is the Defenders first trip to the playoffs.
Penner says after the initial excitement of getting into the field the players have focused on the task in front of them.
Penner says the Grand View defense is the complete package.
Penner says it will take a complete effort to get a win.
