Sam Harrison of Sioux Center has signed a letter of intent to continue his cross country and track careers at Northwestern College this fall.
Harrison earned a combined eight letters competing for the Sioux Center cross country and track and field teams. Harrison qualified for the state cross country meet three times, placing among the top 15 runners in class 2A as both a sophomore and junior. He earned all-state honors twice and helped lead his team to a third place finish in 2018 and fourth place in 2017.
“We are thrilled to have Sam join our distance crew at Northwestern College,” said Red Raiders Head Coach Scott Bahrke. “Sam is a talented runner who will help both our cross country and track teams achieve their goals. He enjoys running, is a tough competitor and is a good fit for our program.”
Also a state qualifier for the Warriors track and field team, Harrison finished 14th in the 1600m and medaled in the 4×800 relay as a sophomore. He has personal bests of 2:04 in the 800m, 4:40 in the 1600m, 9:58 in the 3200m and 16:50 in the 5K. Harrison is the son of Rob and Tara.
