Statewide Iowa — The Iowa Girls Coaches Association All-District and All State volleyball teams are out.
Named to the 1A All District Northwest team were Alyssa Kolbeck, Cadence Goelbel, Lauren Heying and Miyah Whitehead of Gehlen Catholic, MMCRU’s Ellie Hillbrands, Emily Dreckman, and Taylor Harpeneau, along with Akron-Westfield’s Natalie Nielsen and Lauren Saathoff. Gehlen’s Mike Meyer was named Northwest District Coach of the year.
2A District Northwest All-District players were Western’s Abby VerBurg, Emma Westphal, Jaylin Van Dyken, and Stella Winterfeld, Boyden-Hull’s Ellie Woelber, Jewel Bergstrom, Marissa Pottebaum, and Sarah Boogerd, Hinton’s Anna Coffee and Ashlyn Kovarna. Boyden-Hull’s Justine Draayer was named Northwest Districts Coach of the year.
3A West District players were Sheldon’s Claire Johnson and Payten Lode. Spirit Lake’s Brooke Smith and Maci Higgins, Cherokee’s Camille Swiefel, Unity Christian’s Emma Byker and Gracie Schoonhoven, Sioux Center’s Reagan Jansen and Willow Bleeker, and West Lyon’s Zavyr Metzger. Sheldon’s Heather Keizer was named 3A West District Coach of the Year.
Named to the Class 1A All State First Team was MMCRU’s Emily Dreckman. Second Team honors went to Gehlen’s Cadence Goebel, and honorable mention accolades went to Gehlen’s Miyah Whitehead and Akron-Westfield’s Natalie Nielsen.
Named to the 2A All State team was Western Christian’s Stella Winterfeld. Named to the second team was Wester’s Jaylin Van Dyken, and Boyden-Hull’s Marissa Pottebaum. 3rd teamers were Western’s Abby VerBurg and Boyden-Hull’s Jewel Bergstrom.
3A All State first team honors went to Unity’s Gracie Schoonhoven. Sheldon’s Payten Lode was named to the second team, and 3rd team honors were to Sioux Center’s Reagan Jansen. Sheldon’s Claire Johnson earned honorable mention.
