Des Moines, Iowa — The Iowa Cubs are under new ownership.
California based company Endeavor has purchased the AAA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Michael Gartner has owned the club for the last 22 years.
That’s Sam Bernabe, who has worked for the club for 39 years. He will continue in his role as President/General Manager.
The I-Cubs are one of several minor league franchises purchased by Endeavor, including the AAA Memphis Redbirds.
Bernabe says the decision to sell had nothing to do with the revenue hit cause by the pandemic.
Endeavor becomes the fourth owner of the franchise since it was born in 1969.
