Iowa Players Talk Colorado State

Iowa City, Iowa — Iowa running back Ivory Kelly-Martin is working on ball security as the fifth ranked Hawkeyes get set to host Colorado State.

The fifth year senior fumbled twice in a 30-7 win over Kent State and was replaced in the rotation by freshman Gavin Williams.

Kelly-Martin says ball security is one of the areas the offense is looking to improve in.

While pleased with a 3-0 start he says the Hawkeyes are not satisfied.

Iowa defensive end John Waggoner says the Hawkeyes face an offense that looks like their own on Saturday when they host Colorado State. The Rams strive to be balanced and are average 180 yards on the ground per game.

The 3-0 Hawkeyes are ranked fifth but Waggoner says that is not something they focus on.

Waggoner says the Hawkeyes need to ignore the praise on social media.

Iowa will face a more familiar defense when the fifth ranked Hawkeyes host Colorado State on Saturday. The Rams use a four man front and it will be the first time this season the Hawks have seen it.

That’s Iowa quarterback Spencer Petras who says Colorado State is physical up front.

Petras says having senior Kyler Schott back at guard is a big lift.
