Ames, Iowa (RI) – A healthy linebacker corps will be a plus for the Iowa State defense next season.
That unit was decimated by injuries in 2024 and several young players were counted on to fill in. Cyclone linebackers coach Colby Kratch.
Kratch says with so many experienced linebackers on the roster it will give the Cyclones some flexibility.
One of those forced into action as a true freshman last season was Beau Goodwin. The former Kingsley-Pierson star appeared in 12 games and started two.
Goodwin felt playing at a small high school actually prepared him to get early playing time.
Goodwin says there is a lot of room for improvement and that is what he is focused on this spring.
After finishing 11-3 the expectations for next season will be high but Goodwin feels the Cyclones can handle it.
The Cyclones close out spring drills on Saturday.
