The Iowa Hawkeye women raced out to a 25-9 lead at the end of one and cruised to an 81-54 win over Wisconsin at the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis. Iowa made 11 of 15 shots in the first quarter and improved to 21-9 on the season.
That’s Iowa coach Jan Jensen. Lucy Olsen led the Hawkeyes with 19 points. Sydney Affolter added nine points and seven rebounds and the Hawkeyes shot better than 57 percent for the game.
The Hawkeyes play sixth seeded Michigan State in the late game tonight. The Spartans beat the Hawkeyes 68-66 in their only meeting back in mid-December and Jensen says the Hawkeyes will need to deal with pressure defense.
