Iowa center Owen Freeman will miss the remainder of the season due surgery on his finger. The sophomore leads the Hawkeyes in points, rebounds and blocked shots. Freeman is shooting 64 percent from the field. McCaffery says it was a recent injury.
McCaffery says the injury was to his shooting hand and the risk of permanent injury was too great if he continued to play.
The Hawkeyes have lost four of five games and take a 4-6 Big Ten record into Tuesday night’s game at home against seventh ranked Purdue.
