Iowa’s Payton Sandfort Eyes Larger Role As Sophomore

Iowa sophomore Payton Sandfort has experienced growth on the court and off.

The Waukee native is coming off a freshman season in which he averaged just over five points per game and shot 37-percent from three point range. He is also approaching six feet, eight inches.

Sandfort’s role increased as the Hawkeyes made a second half run that included the Big Ten Tournament championship.

Sandfort was able to find a role even though he was part of a team loaded with veteran players.

Sandfort is working on areas this summer that will help him get an expanded role next season.
