Iowa baseball coach Rick Heller reached a milestone with 15-3 win over Ohio State on Saturday.
It was Heller’s 1,000th career victory. He is in his 36th season as a head coach in a career that began at Upper Iowa and has also included stops at Northern Iowa and Indiana State.
Heller knew as a 12-year-old he wanted to be a baseball coach specifically.
Heller says his career has flown by.
Heller became the head coach at Upper Iowa in 1988, two years after his playing career with the Peacocks ended.
