Jenness Wins Yellowjacket Open

Former Sheldon/South O’Brien wrestler Luke Jenness finished 5-0 at the Yellowjacket Open Saturday in the 184 pound weight class Saturday afternoon. The Raiders went 21-18 overall on the day and saw many wrestlers perform well.

Jenness is the Raider’s first Yellowjacket Open champion in the program’s history.

Blake Pomajzl finished 4th overall with a 3-1 record at the 157 weight class while three other Raiders finished just outside of th podium on the day.

“Overall, I was very happy with how these guys performed,” commented head coach Rik Dahl. ” They were resilient and eager to be coached. They supported each other throughout the day and when they won, the entire team celebrated. It was fun to watch. We need to work on our single finishes and some other position things but these guys showed a lot of heart today that this is hard to coach.”

The Raiders travel to Mitchell, S.D. next Saturday to compete in the DWU Open.
