Tyson Kooima was named both the NAIA and GPAC Football Offensive Player of the Week announced today by their respective offices.
Kooima threw for 290 yards and a career-best five touchdowns in leading Northwestern to a 48-40 road win over Dordt last weekend. The senior completed 17-of-27 pass attempts and threw touchdown passes to three different receivers (2 Shane Solberg, 2 Cade Moser and 1 Michael Storey). Kooima moved into second place all-time at Northwestern with 82 career touchdown passes, two shy of the record. The five touchdown passes in a single game is tied for second most in program history as well.
For the game, Kooima led the Raiders in rushing with 67 yards and leads the NAIA in total offense and passing yards (1,009yds).
Northwestern improved to 2-1 on the year heading into their bye this weekend; they will host Concordia on Oct. 17.
