Northwestern College has announced the promotion of Bradley Laackmann to Director of Athletic Communications.
“I’m incredibly grateful Bradley desired to move into this important leadership position for our department,” Vice President for Athletics Tony Hoops said. “Throughout an extensive national search process, it became clear to Bradley and me that God was calling him to fulfill this position.”
Laackmann enters the role after two years as Northwestern’s Assistant Director of Athletic Communications and six months in the Interim Director role. During his time at Northwestern, Laackmann has covered all of Northwestern’s athletic teams, utilizing written and digital content, play-by-play and statkeeping services, and livestream broadcasts to promote the Red Raider brand.
“I am excited to lead Northwestern into the next phase of growing its communications efforts,” Laackmann commented. “We have excellent teams and athletes that deserve excellent content, and I look forward to collaborating with those around me to promote our teams effectively. As an alum, I am passionate about the work that we are doing at Northwestern and enjoy giving back to a place that gave plenty to me.”
Laackmann is in his third year at Northwestern and fifth year in the athletic communications field. During the 2023-24 academic year, he served as the media coordinator for Northwestern’s national tournament hosting opportunities in men’s basketball and softball and was the secondary contact for the Raiders’ NAIA National Championship appearances in volleyball and football. In the spring semester, Laackmann implemented new game day technologies in HudlTV and GameTime music to enhance the online and in-person experience for student-athletes and fans.
“Bradley did an outstanding job as the Interim Director of enhacing our department during a very busy time of hosting and covering multiple GPAC and NAIA postseason events,” Hoops said. “Bradley’s passion for our athletic programs and athletic mission of Honoring Christ Through Excellence in Athletics made him the ideal candidate to fill this role.”
A 2020 Northwestern graduate with a degree in sport management, Laackmann is a member of College Sports Communicators (CSC). He currently resides in Orange City with his wife, Emelie, and daughter, Lila.
A national search to hire a Director of Creative Content to replace Bradley’s pre-existing role will begin immediately.
