Linderbaum Selected In First Round Of NFL Draft By Baltimore

LAS VEGAS — University of Iowa center Tyler Linderbaum was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of Thursday’s NFL Draft. Linderbaum was the 25th player picked overall. He is the 19th offensive lineman selected in the Kirk Ferentz era and fourth center.

Linderbaum (6-foot-3, 290-pounds) is a native of Solon, Iowa. He earned unanimous consensus All-America honors, becoming the 12th Hawkeye to earn that distinction. Linderbaum became Iowa’s first recipient of the Rimington Trophy. He was also named the Rimington-Pace Big Ten Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year while earning first-team All-Big Ten honors for the second straight season.

Linderbaum started 35 consecutive games at center for the Hawkeyes after playing as a defensive lineman as a true freshman. Iowa posted a 26-9 record during that span, winning the Big Ten West Division title in 2021.

Linderbaum was also one of four finalists for the Rotary Lombardi Award and one of three finalists for the Outland Trophy.

Baltimore posted an 8-9 record in 2021, being outscored by just five total points. The Ravens posted an 8-4 record in their first 12 games of the season. Baltimore most recently drafted an Iowa player in 2020 when it selected defensive back Geno Stone in the seventh round.

Iowa has had at least one player drafted in every NFL Draft since 1978, including 11 first round selections. Linderbaum is the 80th player coached by Kirk Ferentz at the University of Iowa to be selected in the NFL Draft.
